Braj Ki Holi: Glimpse of Braj Ras at Radha Krishna Temple of North Carolina

Braj Ki Holi at the Radha Krishna Temple of North Carolina unfolded as a four-day celebration of color, devotion, music, and divine joy. From February 28 to March 3, 2026, the temple grounds transformed into a sanctuary of festivity, a different celebration each day, giving the community a rare glimpse into the sweetness of Braj.

If you missed the festivities or simply want to relive the bliss, here is a look back at four days of "Braj ki Holi."

Day 1: The Gateway to the Extraordinary: Unleashing the Spirit of Braj

The celebration burst open on 28th Feb with a festive energy as guests stepped into the temple grounds. The sprawling arena, framed by magnificent stage backdrops and vibrant décor, immediately transported them into the divine land of Braj, 5000 years ago!

Under the open sky, the air vibrated with the primal rhythm of live dhol beats. With soulful devotional bhajan jamming by Nimesh Nagar and team, the celebration felt both uplifting and deeply rooted in devotion, keeping the spirit of Holi beautifully traditional. As Nimesh Nagar himself later shared, it was a joy to celebrate Holi through exclusive bhajans, making the experience feel even more special in the temple setting.

It was a day of unleashing, where everyone found themselves caught in the dhol beats and Braj ki Rasiya spirit of the festival. One moment you were a guest; the next, you were a dancer, laughing as a cloud of gulal drenched you and your heart, with the color of love.

The stage remained lively throughout the celebration. Dance performances based on Radha, Krishna, and the gopis, along with energetic bhangra performances by college students, kept the crowd fully engaged and entertained. Artists and audience alike seemed to become one part of the celebration, blurring the line between performance and participation.

Children found their own special joy in the celebration. From Kids’ Games and Face Painting to the much-loved Color Your T-shirt activity, little hands stayed busy creating colorful keepsakes to carry home. By the end of the day, many children were proudly holding their painted T-shirts — bright, personal, and full of Holi memories. On stage, young performers poured their hearts into their acts while proud parents watched on, their faces glowing with joy. Raffles and Fun Surprises added yet another layer of excitement, giving the entire day the warmth of a true community celebration.

Day 1 marked a joyful beginning that made the celebration feel less like an event and more like an experience, where everyone was drawn in and became part of its spirit.

Day 2: Phoolon Ki Holi — When Devotion Bloomed in Every Direction

On 1st March, the day 2, the celebration of Phoolon Ki Holi carried a magnificent beauty of its own, where flowers, love, and bhav came together in a deeply graceful expression of Holi.

Flower petals began to rain through the air as devotees lovingly showered them upon Sri Radha Krishna, Maharaj ji, and Swamiji and joyfully played flower Holi with one another. It brought out the sweetness of Braj, where every shower of petals became an expression of loving devotion.

The celebration was further enriched by devotional Braj ras kirtans that shaped the entire mood of the day. Holi songs such as ‘Aaj Braj Mein Holi Re Rasiya’ and ‘Holi Khel Raha Hai Banke Bihari, Aaj Rang Baras Raha’ filled the air, adding a soulful depth to the experience. Through these kirtans, devotees were not merely watching a celebration. They were being drawn into the feeling of Braj itself, as though experiencing firsthand the sweetness of Holi as it may have been celebrated during the avatar of Radha and Krishna.

Along with the flower celebration, devotees also had the opportunity to attend Holi Satsang. The spirit of Holi was even more heightened as devotees found themselves immersed in the Roopdhyan Meditation session centered on a sweet Krishna and Radha Holi leela, experiencing a strong spiritual connection and the exhilaration of taking part in the playful pastime of the Divine couple.

After the beauty of Phoolon Ki Holi and a devotional satsang, Preeti Bhoj, the offering of bhog to Radha Krishna was carried out with much joy and celebration.

Day 2 of Braj Ki Holi at Radha Krishna Temple of North Carolina touched the devotees' hearts. Phoolon ki Holi became a festival of devotion, where showers of petals felt like grace descending from Braj.

Day 3: Holika Dhahan - A Night of Unshakable Faith

On March 2nd, the third evening, the air turned biting and a persistent drizzle began to fall from a dark, heavy sky. In most circumstances, one might expect a quiet night—but the spirit of the RKT community is not so easily dampened.

In a staggering display of devotion, the turnout was breathtaking. Over 250 devotees, including young parents cradling babies wrapped in warm blankets, gathered under the open sky to spectate the Holika Dhahan. The "glow" of the evening started long before the fire was lit; it began with the sight of devotees carrying the small, beautiful statue of Prahlad upon their heads from the temple, a sacred procession of honor and protection.

The beautiful figure of Holika, exquisitely decked, with Prahlad seated in her lap, brought the timeless story vividly before everyone’s eyes. It was a powerful reminder of the eternal truth that arrogance may rise for a while, but it is devotion that is ultimately protected by the Divine. The sacred fire that was lit carried with it the prayer to burn away ego, negativity, and all that keeps the soul distant from God.

The puja, the circumambulation around the sacred fire, and the sharing of prasad gave the evening a sense of togetherness that felt both intimate and uplifting. The sheer turnout of a huge crowd of devotees with young children reflected how deeply this celebration had touched the hearts of the community.

Day 3 of Braj Ki Holi at Radha Krishna Temple of North Carolina glowed in a powerful reflection of inner cleansing, steadfast devotion, and the victory of divine protection. In the flickering light of Holika Dahan, devotees were reminded that, just as Prahlad emerged unharmed through his unwavering faith, the heart anchored in God is never overcome by darkness.

Day 4: Rangon Ki Holi with Radha Krishna — A Rare and Intimate Gift

If the earlier days of Braj Ki Holi unfolded in open, expansive celebration, Rangon Ki Holi with Radha Krishna on Day 4 brought the festival with an experience that felt joyful, intimate, and profoundly rare.

Inside the sanctified atmosphere of the temple, Radha and Krishna were seated on a beautifully adorned swing, surrounded by flowers and ornate decorations. The devotees were ecstatic at the rare opportunity to apply holi colors to Radha and Krishna. It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime blessing to be playing Holi with the divine couple.

Day 4 of Braj Ki Holi at Radha Krishna Temple of North Carolina offered devotees a deeply cherished and blissful experience. To lovingly apply color to Radha and Krishna, sing Their glories, and celebrate in Their immediate presence was a blessing that filled the heart with gratitude and joy.
