1932

A small group of families consecrated a humble shrine beneath a banyan tree, installing the first murti of Sri Lakshmi Narayana with their own hands.

1958

Master sthapatis from Kumbakonam completed the eastern tower, carved over six years in the classical Dravidian style. The temple became a landmark of the town.

1979

The first great consecration ceremony renewed the temple's spiritual energy. Over ten thousand devotees attended the week-long celebrations.

1996

A new pillared hall opened for concerts, discourses, and weddings — and the temple music school welcomed its first thirty students.

2011

With the new dining hall, the temple began serving free meals daily. Today over 1,200 people are fed every week, every week of the year.

Artisans restored the century-old festival chariot to its original glory, and the Great Procession returned to the streets after twelve years.
